What you were probably not told about your new faith(Christianity)
You're a slave of a deity.
You actually no longer have a life of your own.
All your ambitions and will died when you declared him your Lord(master) and now you are living to serve another man(Christ).
In this journey of faith, you'll surely be faced with persecutions and afflictions before you enter into the regeneration (the renewal of all things). You might even die(be martyred) here on Earth while fulfilling the will of your master. Your life is not yours man of God
